In case you missed it, this past week an incredibly brave activist, Jacqueline Traide, endured painful and humiliating tests in the storefront of LUSH Cosmetics (one of my absolute favorite companies, which I now love even more!), to call attention to the millions of animals poked, prodded, caged, abused, tortured, and killed all day every day across the world, in the name of “science,” or worse, vanity.
LUSH (partnered with Humane Society International) continues to be a leader in the global campaign against unnecessary animal testing for cosmetics.
Please join them by supporting their work (shop with them!), boycotting companies that DO test on animals, and especially signing their online petition!!!

For nearly two decades, mountaintop removal (MTR) coal mining has been destroying Appalachia’s natural landscape and wildlife habitats.
Recently, a native woodsman witnessed bulldozers covering the entrance of a black bear den with debris, leaving a crying mother bear and her cubs trapped inside to die.
In addition to hurting bears, the bulldozing and explosions involved in MTR destroy flying squirrel, salamander, mussel and other native animal habitats.
Please sign the petition to convince Congress to ban MTR and to enforce legal requirements for coal mining in Appalachia.

On April 12th, Canadian fisherman will set out to brutally club and skin 400,000 seals. 42% of these baby seals are skinned while sill alive.
Stop this senseless murder by signing this petition and visiting

Together we can keep the snow from being stained red with their blood.
nrdc: Stop the Pebble Mine - Save Alaskan Salmon
Despite overwhelming local opposition, foreign mining giants Anglo American and Rio Tinto are pressing forward with plans to build a gargantuan, open-pit gold and copper mine above Alaska’s Bristol Bay — threatening the world’s greatest sockeye salmon runs and the very last 284 beluga whales of Cook Inlet.
Sign a message urging these two corporations not to build a mega-mine against the will of local citizens.

Why This Is Important
Horses are NOT for consumption. They have been a part of our evolution for THOUSANDS of years, carrying us on horseback, pulling our carriages and plows for crops. We would not be where we are as a civilization without them - that alone should be enough cause for us to respect them enough not to eat them. Honor our history. Now, horses are a part of another form of transportation. They are our partners in personal and leadership development, they take us to the depths of our psyche and gracefully show us how to be better humans. Read the work of Dr. Allan Hamilton, a neurosurgeon who eloquently describes the science between the horse and human interaction, and how merely being around them - in their presence increases our brain function. They are also used in therapy for the mentally and physically handicapped. Have you ever seen an autistic child get on the back of a horse? Their faces light up with joy and their expression defines the very connection they have with that sentient being at that moment. People suffering from muscular dystrophy go through physical therapy on the back of the horse, because of the way they move simulates the way our hips move when we walk. The millions of reasons why this law should be overturned are details, a story. The true reason is in your heart. Could you really eat a horse? Sign this petition if you disagree with horses becoming a part of the drive through menu at your local fast food chain.
The Slaughter Begins
Here is a thoroughbred race horse dumped at a slaughterhouses, a site that will now become commonplace across America. They will be executed and cut up to be sold as meat for consumption in America thank to this Congress and this President. Shame on them all. What happened to your promise to ban this forever Mr President?

Send a message to Secretary Salazar to stop Shell from drilling for oil in the Arctic and further endangering the polar bear population.
The oil industry still has no method for cleaning up spills in ice-filled waters. A major spill could devastate the Arctic ecosystems — poisoning polar bears, suffocating whales and killing other wildlife. Be the voice for polar bears. Help protect polar bears and their habitat by sending a message to Salazar or by reblogging this post. Awareness can help save lives!

This baby fox will live her entire life in a cage. When she’s big enough, she will be ripped from her cage with a pole, anally or vaginally electrocuted, and killed to become part of a coat or vest for companies like INTERMIX.
Her body will be discarded and she will be forgotten. Unless we continue to be her voice. INTERMIX has not replied to a single email, call, tweet, or facebook post. More than 27,000 people have voiced their concern through our petition, and they continue to pretend we don’t exist.
We will not be ignored. Please help us continue spreading compassion and hope for those without a voice. Sign & share our INTERMIX: PLEASE GO FUR FREE petition.
Wondering how the beautiful raccoons you see in the forest turn into the fur vest hanging in INTERMIX’s storefront window? Above is a series of photos (more here) that will give you some idea. (trap. catch. drown. skin. repeat.)
Angry? Heartbroken? Me too.
Put those feelings into action by signing our INTERMIX: Please Go Fur Free petition here. And if you already have (thank you!!), please pass it on!

“Animal testing has been around for many decades now and it is an inhumane tradition that we place upon animals. With scientist forming many new and fully proven Non-Animal testing alternatives, they should use these new testings more often then not and should educate them to students at universities.
Stanford University is standing high in the science field today and they should change their focus from violent Animal testing to a faster and more accurate Non-Animal testing education. They should train their students with the new and modern form of testing, which doesn’t involve the cruelty towards animals. They should allow for students to have the choice to be educated in non-animal testing alternatives which is used in many labratories today. It is the choice and right of the people to speak out against this cruel act we call Animal testing Science.”

“Right now, the Japanese whaling fleet is barrelling south to hunt thousands of majestic whales, escorted by a 30 million dollar security force paid for out of the tsunami disaster relief fund!
Anti-whaling champions were successfully blocking the Japanese whale hunt — which is exactly why the Japanese government decided to swipe money from relief efforts to stop the activists from bothering the boats while they engage in their brutal slaughter.
If we can stop the whaling security and get the relief money back for desperate Japanese citizens still languishing in radioactive hotspots,we could help end the whale hunt for good. ”
